Five on Friday

Happy Friday once again and time to link up with Amy at Love Made My Home for five on Friday.

Being back home after a lot of travelling makes you thankful for just being home! As I pottered around it was lovely to enjoy the sunlight streaming in at my front door and I just savoured the contentment that is home.

If you look on the table you will see this sign propped up (for now).  It was a surprise gift from DH on holiday in Ohio.  A great reminder of home too even though its not Ohio! I love it and hubby's thoughtfulness!

As you can see there is a bicycle in the sign and that's because hubby loves all things cycle related so he treated himself to this cute wooden tricycle which fits in with our living room decor and has a nostalgic feel. A sweet little souvenir!

Blue is the colour we both love and chose for our main room and I loved this checkered mat and best of all I could fit it in the case!

A little touch of whimsy this time in the shape of a chicken again in tones of blue though the light makes it look grey.

Isn't it just human nature though, to be moving on in a hurry to the next thing and already I'm starting autumn/fall crafting with some of this lovely fabric I brought home with me from Berlin Ohio.

Time is passing quickly!

So that's my five and if you click HERE you can go to Amy's blog and find out what others have in their Five on Friday.

Many thanks and hope you enjoy the weekend!

Roscoe Village

On our way through Ohio, we stopped to see historic Roscoe Village, Coshocton. It has a lovely street with red bricked buildings and clapboard restaurants and shops.

This was the original smithy

On the gable end I admired the quilt patch

The general store is a gem, with lots of antiques and reproductions and the most delicious homemade fudge!

Isn't this bear in the old kiddie car just wonderful?!
I loved it!

Thanks for coming by for a visit! Hope you can comment and come back soon!

And on to Amish country

After our time in Michigan, we headed south for Amish country in Holmes County Ohio.  The farmlands in this area are rolling hills and well kept farmsteads.

Its not uncommon to hear the Amish buggies roll by with the clip-clop of horses hooves.

Berlin is one of the best towns in the area for prim stores and The Country Craft Cupboard has a great selection of patterns and supplies which I will share at a later date!

Some of the displays in the stores!  So much to see and choose from!

If only I could have brought home this display with wagon and crocks!

Thanks for visiting and hope you enjoyed the tour!

lots more in store for another day!

Henry ford museum & Greenfield Village

Happy weekend! I'm hoping I don't put you off with so many photos in today's post but I really had a hard time whittling all my photos down to just this many.

We visited the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village in Dearborn Detroit on our way through Michigan and although expensive, I truly enjoyed the experience and would advise a full day for a visit.

Firestone farm with harvest and haymaking in full swing.

I loved the Cotswold Cottage

Seeing a covered bridge is always a bonus for me!

You could pay extra for a fide in a Model T

Below is the original home of Robert Frost

It was so hot we were glad to go inside to the motor museum and that building is just beautiful

I'll stop there and hope you enjoyed this little tour!

Linking with Amy's five on Friday and hope she'll forgive me for going over quota!

Back soon!

Back Home

Hello again, friends! We got home safely on Monday from our USA road trip after a wonderful time. On arriving home, I found this special card for me from my sweet blogging friend Connie of Crafty Creations HERE.

These pics don't do justice to Connie's fine stitching and it fits perfectly into my prim decor with its tan and reds.

Very cleverly Connie has designed the card to stand up so I can enjoy the stars too! How cute!

As if that wasn't enough, dear Connie also included a little envelope filled with stamps and sentiments to use when i try to make some cards.

THANK YOU SO MUCH CONNIE!

Here are a few snapshots of our time in Michigan on the shores of Lake Huron.  It was beautiful!

The long roads of Michigan!

Thanks for all your well wishes and prayer whilst we were away.  I'll be posting again soon with more holiday shots and some of my holiday purchases.

See you soon!
