Five on Friday

A happy Friday to you!  Glad you could join me for another fun Friday link up with Amy for Five on Friday.

We've had a very full and diverse week of activities here, with it being half term break so I had to entertain my three and was thankful there was only one day of persistent rain.

However my first mention this week has to be that we celebrated my hubby's birthday this week.

Sorry but he's too shy to make an appearance here and doesn't want his age publicised!!!

Anyhow, we went out to one of our favourite restaurants and had a beautiful dinner and scoffed his cake before I took photos!!

I love getting out whilst the weather is still pleasant and we took a trip to a forest park to enjoy the views.

This is Castlewellan Castle in County Down about a half hour away. its a private conference centre so sadly no tours inside.

The walk around the lake was well worth it though!
There's also a maze which was fun

A third outing this week was to The Fairy Glen which is really for younger children.

We did smile at the sweet wee make believe fairy homes!

Fourthly we had fun carving pumpkins.  My daughter saw this one and did a great job of carving the VW camper

Mickey Mouse was a bit trickier to do but still looks good!

Lastly I just had to share my latest little woodland creature cross stitch that I've nearly finished!(Well we have been out a lot!)
Little squirrel gets ready for winter. I'm finishing it as an acorn!

Cute little fox!

Happy mid week friends!  Just wanted to share a quick little x stitch I finished today!

Its always the way, though, isn't it - it's only the end of October but we have to move on to Christmas!

So this cute wee fox is an early Christmas decoration

The bright orange still has that autumn feel to it, so I just might keep it out for the next few months and enjoy!

Hope all is well with you and enjoy the rest of your week!

Best wishes

Five on Friday!

Welcome to another Five on Friday link up with Amy at Love Made my Home!

I think Ive managed to pack in quite a variety of activities this week so the week has flown by!

As you can see, I'm thinking Christmas already! I have been working on some cross stitch freebie patterns that I found on Pinterest.  I love red on white! So traditionally christmas for me!

Whilst the weather is still fairly mild, I'm making the most of the outdoors and took off on my bike again!

It was lovely to cycle along over the autumn leaves and hear the crunch!

Thought I'd share a few of the sights along the way

A heron in the river watched me warily!

I passed a small apple orchard - don't they look delicious?

Thirdly this week I had to visit an antiques warehouse near my home and really enjoyed the variety of items they have so here are a couple of the weirder ones - a 4ft suit of armour?

And the Chinese cupboard is lovely but I nearly laughed out loud when I saw the dogs on top!

I love reading and my SIL and I swap books regularly and at the moment our favourite author is colleen Coble, a Christian writer of mystery with a bit of romance thrown in. This is the box set I read this week, all in a similar vein but good clean light reading .

And finally what would I do without comfort food or more precisely CHOCOLATE!
I love this stuff and it doesn't last long in our home!

It's Crunchy Peanut Butter and Chocolate bars made as a traybake

Melt 2oz of butter, 1oz of caster sugar, 2 tbspns golden syrup in a saucepan.

Remove from heat when melted and add 4 tbspns of crunchy peanut butter. Mix well.

Crush 6oz of rich tea biscuits or similar and add to the peanut butter mixture. Stir in well.

Press firmly into a 1" deep baking tray and leave to cool completely.

Melt about 6oz of milk chocolate and pour over the cooled base and leave to set and then cut into squares and try to stop yourself !

Thanks for visiting and know that I appreciate you taking the time to comment!

Have a great weekend!

Five on Friday

Welcome to another Five on Friday post when it is as ever, a pleasure to link with Amy at Love made my Home and join in the fun!

And that's what my five are about this week - they begin with the letter 'f' for FRIDAY FUN!

Well, actually I've enjoyed a fun week this week out and about enjoying FALL! The weather has been beautiful and the leaves are glorious so another 'f' is FOLIAGE!

Then we celebrated God's Faithfulness to us at our church harvest thanksgiving services. The bounty of fruit and veg and flowers was amazing - here are some of the displays

I have some fall Flowers outside too which are nice to see

Thirdly I love FOOD and this week I had a really delicious lunch and easy to make too!

It's a halved ciabatta roll topped with cooked chicken pieces, bacon, cheese chilli sauce and red onion which I served with salad and coleslaw.

Another exciting new addition for our home is a new FIRE or a wood burner to be exact!  It is so cozy to sit by in the evenings and keep burning those logs!

And finally... a FIRST for me  ... don't laugh but its my first attempt at chalkboard art and calligraphy.
Just a forehand attempt for now but I could seriously get into this as its so much FUN!

Hope you had a fun visit too and don't forget to check out other Five on Friday posts here

Fall Vignettes

Hello and welcome! Finally I have found some time to put together a few fall vignettes around my home.

I brought the boxes out and it was like meeting friends again as I came across old prim dolls etc that I have been making these years past.

I managed to find just a few clippings of rose hips - the farmers have been cutting their hedges here and most is gone :-(

I always smile when I see my little candy corn doll I did with punch needle

Cornucopia and definitely one of my favourite handmades

Little Harvest mouse and her pumpkin

Love the soft glow in the evenings that are drawing in

My Fall in the family area

I do hope you enjoyed your quick wee tour of fall around my home.  Time to cozy up in front of the fire with something sweet I think!

Do let me know you've visited as I love to hear from you all!

Best wishes

Five on Friday

Happy Friday, dear friends! Glad you came by and hope you can relax with me for a few minutes after a BUSY week!
I'm glad once again to be joining Amy for Five on Friday
This week my five all happen to begin with "B"! not including busy!

My first 'b' is for BABY!! Meet my new little nephew! We are so delighted to welcome him into the family and he is a 'wee dote' as we say in N. Ireland - so precious and loved and a special gift for his parents especially.

Next I was so taken with this 'BEAUTY' This was sunset the other evening with a stunning colourful sky.  It looks as though it could be on fire!

Thirdly, 'BROTH' - nothing like heart warming chicken and vegetable broth on October days which I made this week

Fourth 'B'

Some fun crafting!
This banner is easily made  like the pumpkin banner I made last week from burlap and paper

Last, some of my BROOMS. Getting more bits and pieces arrayed for Fall around the home

I'll finish with another 'b' and wish you all a blessed weekend!
