Butterflies

I've been sewing butterflies, this past wee while.  These are made from my old cutter quilt and the colours are just right for spring/summer butterflies, don't you think?  I just drew a simple butterfly template and in no time had a few new  summery butterflies to add to my table! And the best thing is they are reversible.

I have had this freebie pattern from Appleseedprim.blogspot.com for a long time and knew it was time to stitch it for this galvanised pitcher that I got for a bargain.

I just glued it on and frayed the edges a little..

Here it is all filled with summery hedgerow 'flowers' (or weeds)!!

At the moment the roadsides are full of cow parsley and I do think it looks lovely along the lanes when I'm out walking.

While there is an abundance of cow parsley, the weather here is still very cool for June so I haven't seen many butterflies yet. But I know the sunny days of summer are just around the corner...

Have a lovely week and thank you for your visit and sweet thoughts!

  3. I like all your butterflies. The pitcher of wild flowers looks great. What you call cow parsley looks like what we would call Queen Anne's lace

  7. Sweet butterflies my friend!! I have a daughter who fears butterflies (it's a real phobia), but we give her some good natured teasing about her missing out on the beauty of them :)

  8. Oh Christine...what a delightfully inspirational post! I just love butterflies, and you created such lovely fabric ones to grace your home with summertime loveliness! And your stitching is sheer perfection...it looks gorgeous on your pitcher... Oh, don't you think hedgerow flowers are wonderful? Sometimes I prefer them to fancy flowers, simply because they look so natural and simplistic arranged in a vase or jug...
Have a delicious summer, dear Christine!
    Hugs and blessings to you,
    Kelly-Anne
