Five on Friday - Strawberries

Happy weekend, friends!  Hope you are enjoying summer!  When its summer, what is one of your favourite treats?  My treat is a bowl of sweet strawberries and cream.  MMMMMM!

With that in mind here are my five on Friday, all strawberry related! (Sorry if its a bit of a stretch but they are one of a kind strawberries!!!)

The top photo is cute wee wool strawberries I bought in a prim store and they inspired me to make some velvet pinkeeps of my own,  like these

But then I thought a little cross stitch one would be sweet too, and just made up a few motifs to sew on it.

I've always wanted a wee fob for my scissors and finally made one - here it is on my latest cross stitch WIP...

And all good things are worth waiting for... my dessert for tea... meringue nest, fresh cream and strawberries! Sooooo good!
All on my Virginia strawberry china plate which were wedding gifts and treasured!

Good (Blue) Fences

On my bicycle travels this past week, I've been able to capture a few new fences to share with you at the Good fences link up hosted by Run-a-round Ranch.

This first one is on a farm - I liked how they made an ordinary wire fence a bit more visually appealing by using heavy blue rope.  It's been there a while and moss is growing on it making it turn brown.

Another simple but striking fence. i like that its been painted this blue.

Makes for a noticeable entrance and contrast with the pasture.

Thanks so much for your visit and your comments!
I look forward to reading them!

Five on Friday

I' m back for Amy's Five on Friday link up party and bid you most welcome !  Thank you for all your comments on the rainbow and fence post yesterday! Hubby was chuffed to be a part of it!

This has been a lovely summer like week for which we are truly thankful after so many cold blustery weeks.
Firstly, I have almost finished a lovely summer cross stitch pattern by the Primitive Hare.  I love the bee in the pattern!

Tying in very nicely is this picture I was so pleased to capture of a busy bee on my chives plant.  It was lovely to sit in the sun and listening to the bees buzzing in the garden! Ahhh summer!!

Thirdly I have been making the most of the good weather and heading out in to the surrounding countryside on my bicycle.  Great exercise and fun - apart from the dreaded hills and we have lots of them in every direction!

Fourthly, some of the beautiful countryside basking in the sun

And fifthly, all week I have been enjoying this bouquet of lilies I was given. they are opening and the scent is very heady!  But they were a nice surprise!

Thank you so much for joining me and hope to hear from you.

Don't forget to click on the link below and join Amy and others!

Have a great weekend!

Fences and Rainbows

Hello again and welcome!  Once again I'm joining TexWisGirl at the Run-a-roundRanch for Thursday's Good Fences link up.

My hubby managed to snap this beautiful rainbow on Sunday evening as we drove over the hills to visit family and attend a baby dedication service at their church.  It was a lovely evening and the rainbow was so vivid. You can't tell from these, but there was actually a double arc.

The hills are wild in parts and there are lots of fences to keep in sheep.  Lots of gorse or bright yellow whin bushes as hedges.

On the way home the sun was setting so hubby obliged by taking more phone shots as I drove and if you look closely there is another bit of fencing in the photo!

Thanks again for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed the views!
Thank you to everyone for being so willing to leave comments.

I've been sewing butterflies, this past wee while.  These are made from my old cutter quilt and the colours are just right for spring/summer butterflies, don't you think?  I just drew a simple butterfly template and in no time had a few new  summery butterflies to add to my table! And the best thing is they are reversible.

I have had this freebie pattern from for a long time and knew it was time to stitch it for this galvanised pitcher that I got for a bargain.

I just glued it on and frayed the edges a little..

Here it is all filled with summery hedgerow 'flowers' (or weeds)!!

At the moment the roadsides are full of cow parsley and I do think it looks lovely along the lanes when I'm out walking.

While there is an abundance of cow parsley, the weather here is still very cool for June so I haven't seen many butterflies yet. But I know the sunny days of summer are just around the corner...

Have a lovely week and thank you for your visit and sweet thoughts!

Five on Friday!

Hello and welcome! I wanted to share with you five baskets (or such)  of my favourites and yes, they are all Americana related!

They are filled with some lovely gifts from friends and various items I have made over the years. Stars, birds and sheep, they're all in there!

I think this shelf is my favourite this year and the two smaller baskets are my best finds and are made in Amish country, Ohio and Lancaster County PA.

Some more handmades and old bobbins.

It wouldn't feel like summer without some Coke, now would it?!!! This is on my little bench.

So that's my five on Friday and hope you liked! Let me know!

I am so pleased to link with Amy for Five on Friday.

Horse at the fence

I've been out and about again on my bike so I snapped a few photos on my route to share with you on
the Good Fences link up Thursday.

I saw the horse grazing and came over the the fence for a better shot with my phone camera and  the horse looked up

He was a friendly creature but we couldn't get close as there were too many briars covering the fence.

And then another pony came to check us out.

Linking with TexWisGirl and Good Fences.  Its well worth checking out for lots of great posts!
