New Year Dawning

As we draw 2014 to a close, I am thankful.
God has guided us through another year of unknowns.
He has abundantly provided,
His mercies flow on like a river.

I am thankful for His abiding Presence
With Him we watch the dawning of a New Year.

It is The early morning mists clear,
I wonder what new beauties I will see...

God bless you all in 2015!

Santa came!

Ho! Ho! Ho! This jolly old man paid us a welcome visit this Christmas - I actually got this sweet little pattern finished on Christmas Eve. It's a free pattern by Pineberry Lane on Patternmart.

One of my treats this year was to receive a copy of Simply Vintage quilting and craft magazine by Quiltmania.

It's chock full of wonderful winter projects that I am so looking forward to starting soon!

Another special and much anticipated parcel came just in time from Country Stitches! I love Brenda Gervais's patterns and got a cross stitch and punch needle pattern.  My 'to-do' list is steadily growing longer!  But these winter evenings are just right for cozying up with a fun stitchery!

Hope you all had a lovely time as we did with loved ones! I need to get some more prep done tonight as we've family visiting tomorrow.

Have a blessed weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Best wishes

Christmas Gift Holly Jolly Candle mat

It's almost here!  Imagine, another Christmas is just a few days away!  I'm as ready as I'll ever be and just glad to be able to enjoy this time with loved ones!

Having said that, all my blogger friends are special to me and by way of thanks for all your kind words I have designed this easy to make little wool candlemat and wrapper for you!

The candle mat measures 9"x7" and I added large ric rac in red down each edge.  The berries on the mat are french knots but on the candle wrapper I used red wool tiny circles.

Just use buttonhole stitching for the edge of the wrapper.
Here is the pattern!  Feel free to reproduce but please give credit where its due, thank you!
I am so blessed to have so many wonderful friends!
Happy Christmas to you all!!

Christmas Home Tour part 2

Welcome back, dear friends.  I'm so glad you came by to visit again.  Just stroll around and enjoy yourself!

We'll start in the kitchen and as you enter I have this wall hung shelf

This is the corner cupboard shelf with my hand painted Merry Christmas redware style plate. And below the painted jug with grungy candy canes.

As we turn towards the back wall of the family living area I made a new NOEL sign for the shelf there with some lights to twinkle behind

This is the unit beside the sofa...

.... with Santas and snowmen and gingers... all those Christmas goodies!

On the other wall another cupboard with just a few little Christmas decorations...

In front of the sofa on the rustic bench I put together a simple, natural center piece.

The kitchen table and view into the family area... and the table center piece
This is the little tree in the corner by the doors...

This is the dining room which is more formal so the tree is decorated in golds and cream

Just another simple center decoration on a Family Heirloom runner
I appreciate all your sweet comments and the time you take to stop by to see me!
Thank you all!

Best wishes

Christmas in my home part 1

Welcome and please come in! It's feeling more like Christmas so come in and enjoy the twinkling lights - one of my favorite things about Christmas when the days are so short.

I apologise in advance for the picture quality as I have misplaced my camera.

These are taken in the hall with lights on the stairs

At the end of the hall my primitive shelf and new Jingle all the way sign
Now in the living room where the main tree is

Some of my handmade tree decorations

This is the mantel which I find really hard to decorate
There is a rag ball garland on the mantel with a lantern on either end - love the candle glow!

Thanks for your visit and please come back again for the next part!
Have a lovely Christmas-y day!

'Gourd' Santa

This is my newest creation: a gourd Santa!  Made from wool felt and weighted base.

Looking jolly and ready for Christmas with some sweet Annie in his belt.

He started off just like this with a rusty bell.

But I couldn't just leave him alone and made another in gray wool felt this time.

Here they are, a gourd pair!
I hope to share some freebie ideas this week so please stop by again soon!

Best wishes
