First finish and a Question

It's only taken me to Jan. 21st but eventually I got needle and thread to connect and this is what I stitched up this week.

It was a freebie pattern and as I printed it off a year ago, I'm sorry for not being able to tell you where it comes from, apart from on my printout it says 'dessine par Maryse'.

Update: I thought I better do a bit of research via google and sure enough I found the link to Maryse's wonderful stitching blog and all the free charts she has posted so here's the link:

It was definitely an exercise in patience! as I spent quite a bit of time ripping out to start again!
I thought I'd make it into a heart shaped hanging pillow. If you're interested in buying this it is for sale priced £7.00.

I got a great surprise this week when I found out I was the lucky winner of Stephani's 'Friendly' giveaway on her blog Front Porch Primitives which you should to visit! This is what I am so excited to have won, made by Steph's own hands! So precious, thanks Steph!

One of the things I'm turning over in my mind this year is whether or not to keep 2 blogs on the go and just sell anything I get time to make from this blog as it is the main one? Any thoughts or input would be great.

But my most important question relates to another issue I've been deliberating on... I don't know if I have the nerve - some might say the audacity - to sell some patterns for cross stitch and other makedo's.

Sooooo, what I'd really love to know is whether or not anyone would be interested and what kind of a price for patterns do you think is reasonable?

I must also thank each of you who left a comment on my last post to wish us well and pray for us. In some instances in life we need to learn afresh that we are powerless but that God has promised never to leave us or forsake us. I have been comforted by just a two word phrase:
'God knows'. There are the diamond mines of God, if we meditate on them!
Thanks again for your company!
I look forward to hearing from you!

  1. Christine, I think your heart is absolutely lovely! I am very happy you won the giveaway. So good of her to host that.
As for the patterns, I have no knowledge of selling anything, I hope others can give you the advice you need. I do believe in praying and following your heart with your talents, and gifts. I hope to see in the future where yours leads! Blessings!

  2. God knows, what beautiful words to cling to when going through hard times! Love what you created! And I think you should go ahead and try to sell your designs. I used to cross stitch but don't anymore, but everything you create is beautiful! Enjoy your Saturday!

  3. So good to hear from you again Christine. I hope God's peace is filling your heart this day. I think you should just sell things from this blog. You can add pages, you are allowed up to 10 pages. I love the little heart pillow. Cross stitch is one thing I have never learned to do, I don't think I would have the patience for it. I want something that I can do fast.

    Big hugs to you friend

  4. The pillow is just lovely.I don't sew much so not much help on the pattern part.I'd keep the other blog but if you are on a slow spell sell as you get done on your regular blog.Warm Blessings!~Amy

  5. Oh, beautiful cross stitching on the heart pillow, Christine. It looks perfect as a heart.
You could simplify things and sell from here.
Patterns for cross stitch? Yes! Probably around
$7.50-9.00 I would say, depending on how much work they are to chart.

  6. Oh that heart is simply beautiful!! Such a lot of work. Have a blessed weekend. ~Sara

  7. I think it sounds like a good idea, My daughter in law sells her patterns on Etsy and her finishes. I keep wondering about doing it and as my husband always says, " you won't know until you try." :)
I really like the things you make.
I am glad God is being Good and He is always faithful. I love your newest little stitchery.

  8. Hello there sweet Christine!
Your heart pillow is darling and so much work. I've don't have the patience for counted cross stitch so you gals that do I admire immensely.
Congratulations on the win from Steph. She's a sweetie and lives not far from me here in Idaho!
Thanks for the kind comments on my blog. Always good to have you stop by and will keep you in my prayers.

  9. hello deary, me so happy to hear from you..lovely finish..i love the heart pillow so much..very cute..
    congratulations on the winning..
    sending you big hugs xx

  10. Gorgeous little heart stitches Christine! Love how you finished it. I hope to sneak at least one punch pattern into the makings before Valentine's day. We'll see. I guess I have no advice for you re the two blog issues - either or would probably work. As for the patterns - I say, yes - go for it! I've been a bit MIA from blogging myself and just now saw your Christmas freebie (thank you so much!!) - that's one I'm definitely going to try to do. Unfortunately, time is limited these days and given the number of crafts I like to do, I probably have enough projects and patterns to keep me busy for a lifetime. But there's lots of folks who stitch more and faster than I do, so I say why not? I prefer paper patterns myself - but I know I'm in the minority - most like the PDF emailed versions. Best of luck in your design making. Hope all is well in your world - hope things are working out on the family front. And you are so, so, right - God knows. Wishing you a weekend filled with blessings....Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  11. Christine..Your Heart Pillow is beautiful.. I love it...I have no patience at all for stitching anything like that.
I'd say go for it ..What do you have to lose. So many love to stitch and love a variety of patterns to choose from. It takes time to make any selling project work for you but unless you give it a shot you will never know how well your patterns will sell. So do it..What have you to lose?
    Good Luck!!

  12. I love the red stitch. It is so beautiful:) The heart pillow is so fitting. If you are getting enough traffic through this blog why not interject it with the things you are selling? I've seen ladies do this very tactfually and I don't mind. I love to see what people are selling as well as the fun posts they do. Good luck. -Steph-

  13. BEAUTIFUL CHRISTINE...I love the stark White and perfectly Valentine.
    Congratulations on the win!.
I think if you sold your designs as patterns they would sell very well...I say go for it.

Like Steph said...integrate the two blogs... sell off of your sidebar...not in the body of the blog. They will stand out and always be there, not get lost in the posts.

14.'re stitchin' is beautiful and I know from first a pattern designer myself I say go for it with paper and PDF patterns this caters for all..check around and see what other designers sell theres for and stay in line with that..sell on which ever blog as you will always post here anyway and after all it is only a simple click to go to your selling blog or have a patterns page here..I am sure in a little time I will see your designs on one of the pattern sites like pattermart..or better still do a few designs and sign yourself up..good luck with you new venture I know you will do well..hugsX

  15. I love the little heart pillow...very cute...I'm making a blanket in red and white...I hope to get it done before the 1st! As for your blogs...I would either condense them as one and sell from this one...or open an Etsy shop...that's what I do. I have had pretty good luck with Etsy.I would look at what others sell their patterns for and go from there. It's hard, but just go for it...I did that and it's been fun. I'm so glad to see you're right ...God knows...keep the faith my dear...and have a great day!!

  16. Wonderful first finish! Love it!

  17. It's me again, I tried to send you an email to the address you left in your comment to my giveaway, but it failed... ??? Would like to send you a photo...

  18. I am beginning to love red and white, Christine.. For some reason I keep missing your posting until way later..
Two blogs are hard to do, eh?
I think you should do whatever you think is best..
    Praying for you all..
    God bless...

  19. Lovely redwork! I have been thinking of doing blackwork. This mono-coloured style has begun to interest me as of late~

Thanks so much for expressing an interest - kind thoughts always appreciated!
