Getting into the Americana mood!

It's Time!

I mean of course time for summer and for me that means Americana! I love red, white and blue!
Over the next few days I am going to put out some of my Americana gatherings.I've been busy making a new shelf sitter for the season. I got my inspiration from one of Twigs' doodles on her Primitive Blessings website and got to making this gal!

Her body is made of lovely Americana fabric with stars and there's even a rusty star on her head!

I am going to list her on my selling blog though I'm really quite attached to her... I suppose I'll have to make another one!

Have a great day!

Today is a new day for a post!

After a good night's sleep, and so many encouraging comments for which I thank you sincerely,
it's time to post and keep my word :-)

I have been busy with my needle and thread all week! I bring my sewing with me when I go to school to collect my little one. I need to be there early as the car park's always choc-a-bloc busy and I like to have a good spot. I finished this x stitch freebie from Primitive Betty

It's done on Aida 18ct - does that make it less prim?

Yesterday was an enjoyable day. Shazy and I met up for coffee and some fabric shopping and of course a good chat!
I got some more osnaburg and some pretty, tiny floral fabrics from Moda. Not a huge stash, but I'm saving my pennies for a big splurge I intend to have in several weeks in a certain place in Pennsylvania renowned for its quilting shops! Dear hubby is already turning pale at the thought!lol!

I've been trying for that balance between blogging and household chores and while the house isn't immaculate at least it has seen the vacuum cleaner and floor mop and detergent this week!

Another thing on my list is trying to shed some winter weight gain so I've dusted off my bicycle from the garage and headed out only to realize I'm not as fit as I thought! Mind you it's very hilly around about these parts! My posterior didn't appreciate it either, to put it politely!

Saturday is a busy day, but I just wanted to post and encourage everyone to let us know how you are doing too. Human contact, even via blogging is good for the heart!
Love to hear from you!
Have a blessed weekend!

Blogging rally call

Do you too detect a mood of despondency creeping in amongst bloggers, or is it just me?

Are people going to give up posting just because others haven't got the same enthusiasm as previously? It would be so easy just to say, 'OH well...' and drift away.

Surely there are still so many great fellow bloggers out there, well worth visiting and encouraging with a comment now and again.

Names and numbers are not what bloggings about to me - it's about friendships already forged and I don't want to desert my friends...

So I say to your posts...

Godly Mothers

I wasn't really sure how my testimony would be received in blogland, but I have to thank all of you who shared a word of testimony with me. It was such a blessing to read how God moves in our lives and is willing to forgive us and live in us - Praise God He is merciful!

As I read several of those shared testimonies, it struck me how God has used mothers in our lives.
I was reminded again of the inestimable worth of having a godly mother and of being a godly mother!

As it is Mother's Day in the US tomorrow, I thought I would share with you a little of the blessing I have felt of having one the godliest mothers and my own struggles to be a godly mother.

I am so blessed to have a saved mother and her only desire for me and my two brothers was that God would save us and use us for His glory.
When I was born, my father was still out of Christ so my mom prayed and read the Scriptures with us by herself. A memory that will be with me always is finding my mother on her knees with the Bible open in front of her and hearing her praying earnestly for us. What an example!
I thank God for my mom who still prays like that; I am blessed today by her interceding at the throne of Grace for me!
It was because my mother taught me of the Savior's dying love that I knew to call upon the Lord for salvation and the first person to whom I confessed the Lord was my own sweet mother!

Now we would both pray for my dad and brothers and indeed the Lord answered and saved them in the next couple of years.
I can see what a Christian is really supposed to be like when I see my mom. As Proverbs 31 v.26-31 describes the godly woman, 'Her children rise up and call her blessed... a woman that feareth the Lord she shall be praised.'
And this is exactly what I pray God would help me to be before my 3 children, whom the Lord has entrusted to my charge. What a responsibility! What a struggle!

I confess as a mother that it is so hard to make the time to instruct them in the ways of God when there are many demands on us and so many distractions around. I long for them to love the family time of prayer and Bible reading. Psalm 144 v 11 & 12, 'Rid me and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speak vanity... That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth, that our daughters may be as cornerstones, polished after the similitude of a palace.'
I could pray for nothing higher or greater than that my children be taught of the Lord and great shall be their peace Isaiah 54, 13.
God bless us as mothers and thank God for godly mothers. After giving us His Son, the next best gift God gives any of us is a God fearing mother.

Have a blessed Mother's Day!

A word of testimony

May and May flowers, especially the ones in these pics have a very special place in my heart.
In May, 32 years ago as a wee girl of just 8 years of age, I was returning home from school by myself. The walk home was down a quarter of a mile stretch of laneway which was just beginning to bloom with spring flowers. I loved to gather some to take home to my mother and that's just what I did that sunny afternoon. I really love bluebells and primroses but then my eye fell on these delicate little white flowers and I decided to add some to my bouquet.
As I picked one from the hedge my conscience was instantly pricked. At that moment I felt my guilt as a sinner before God. The purity and whiteness of that simple little flower convicted me of my sin and the wickedness of my heart in the sight of God, who 'is of purer eyes than to behold iniquity'.

In simple child-like faith I prayed to God to save me from my sin and wash my heart clean and pure like the little white flowers. Even as an eight year old, I knew then why Jesus had shed His blood on the Cross of Calvary - it was for my salvation! Praise His name He came into my heart and life that instant and saved me as He says, 'Call upon the name of the LORD and thou shalt be saved.'

So I lift up my heart in thankfulness to God for saving me and keeping me from that day.
I love the Lord and want to serve Him day and daily for His mercy to me.

If you have never repented of your sin, you can do so right now and call upon the Lord to forgive you and He promises never to turn any away. He will save you now and for eternity!

There is no greater blessing in life than to be in a right relationship with God.
Trust Him today

If you do know the Lord, I'd love to know how you were saved.
