Hey everyone - this is my 100th post so I'm having a giveaway!

Now that Valentine's is behind us, we've got spring to look forward too and it's my favorite season!
I've been working on some special little spring goodies for you to win in my drawing!

So, are you ready to see them?

Here goes~You will receive a cross-stitched tuck pillow saying 'Tulip Time' which is a freebie pattern from Primitive Betty (Thanks!) BTW sorry, but the little bench is not included!
It is coffee stained with cinnamon and I added a rusty bell on a pin.
Next how about these cutest bunnies for bowl fillers - remember I gave you a sneak a few weeks back?
Here's a closer look~
The bunny pattern is from Snugglebug Blessings by Cathy Gray.
And then there's a simple sweet ditty bag on which I stitched a tulip flowering bud and coffee stained it also~

This is the reverse side How ever that's not all!
I thought by way of extra celebration I'd draw for a 2nd name and that winner will receive a bunny shelf-sitter I made - I call him Rupert!

Thanks and these fingers itch to stitch!

Hello once again, bloggers! I have to begin by thanking everyone for visiting and leaving such warm and thoughtful comments! You make my day just to know there are friends out there who are willing to spend time in my company!

A big thanks goes to Carole from Primnraggedy for sending me the tartmelts I won in her recent giveaway! They are just lovely Carole and nearly too nice to melt! I love looking at them in a bowl!
Here they are with a tag that Carole sent with them~

There are little cinnabuns, saltbox houses and raggedy annies - really cute! This pic shows them better~The other thing that came in the mail today was some fabric - the one you see here. It's called Ozark calico - here's a close-up~
Well, as soon as I got my hands on it, I had to stitch something up with it, so I made this little spring child's prairie dress to hang from my shelf

I still want to add some details to it but had to see it hang from a twig for effect! I confess to being impatient!lol!

Now I know I've been going on abit about blank walls but I have been doing something about it!
I'm going to frame this felted piece and hang it on all that space!
I like felt but would love to try proper wool for this kind of project. But that's for another time!
For now, my little fingers are stitched to the quick so I wish you all a good evening and thanks again for visiting!

What's on your walls?

Hello from a beautiful, sunny, almost Spring like day here in N.Ireland.
It's so mild today I've even hung out the laundry to dry! I love being able to do that - it's one of those simple household tasks which makes me feel blessed.

But to get to the title of this post - staring at a blank wall. I have to go back to last week's post about my new stairs and I mentioned that now I needed to put something on the blank walls on all sides of the stairs. Well, I've been pondering this and I'm not too sure what to put on them, as it's the entrance hall and it's narrow and hard to light.
I've admired walls with gameboards, others with shelves or wall hangings and quilts. I've also been thinking of doing a number of x stitcheries and arranging them on my blank wall.
Then I got to thinking how this could become a fun thing to post about and have as many as possible of you fellow bloggers join in! What do you all think? How about you post with pics of your favorite wall items and we can inspire one another?

I'm going to share a few of my humble wall items. These are in different places around my home.

These wood letters have to be one of my favorite wall items even if they're not particularly prim.

Above is the bowl rack I designed and put together and still love it and the sign as a grouping. Below is my first ever attempt at making a wall hanging with saltbox house - another of my fav prim things!
As you can see I don't have a huge amount on my walls so I'd love for you all to participate and especially show the kind of groupings you have on your walls.
Hope you have fun and be sure to leave a comment to let me know if you're going to post you pics and I'll look forward to seeing them!
Have a great day!

What we've been working on all week

I have been so pleased with this week's work that I couldn't wait any longer to share some pics of what we've been doing.

This has been one of those fairly big projects that I've been wanting done for ages and finally it's done! YAAYY! I'm so pleased with the outcome as it is one of those pieces in the home that you have to look at everyday and what was there before really didn't have the look I was after considering it was there from the time the house was built 20 years ago.

I have to thank my dad for generously giving his time and effort to do this for me - because this week I was his apprentice!
So, I'm talking about the staircase in our home!! When you think about it, it's really a big piece of furniture so I wanted it to look good especially as you see it as soon as you enter our home.
This is the only pic I could find' before' when I had some Christmas decorations up, but you get the idea of the old style staircase we had:

This is a pic after the old boards were cut away - even this is better if not dangerous with 3 kids running about!!
And here are the after shots I took just now so remember this is it still plain pine. We will probably varnish them to finish it. I chose fairly simple cut spindles with a 'stop champfer' cut on the edges and newel post to match as this is more like the staircases I've seen in saltbox houses of the past and classic early American homes, though some might have been painted.
I would paint with a colonial colored paint but that's not for DH and I appreciate that he let me have the spindles in the style of my choice.
Now all I've got to do is put up something on the walls as they're bare for the most part!
Oh well, never a dull moment and I love planning and choosing what to do next!

Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy day to visit with me! I love the company and the comments so please say 'Hi!' Thanks too for following all who have recently found my blog -
I am delighted to meet each and everyone!

Have a great day!

Spring Surprizes!

Greetings fellow bloggers! Here we are at the start of February 2010 - ALREADY! And I'm already turning my thoughts toward Spring, even though we've had a cold weekend with a touch of snow. This is the view from my front door at 9am
But it's at my kitchen window sill where I see signs of spring and the promise of fresh new life emerging. This little planter basket was a Christmas gift and in the pots are hyacinth bulbs and look, they're beginning to sprout! Spring's coming!

However, that's not the only reason I'm posting! I'm just giving you advance notice of an upcoming spring special you can be on the lookout for in the next few days. Here's a little clue!
Wishing you all a great week and I'll post soon with all the details!
