I AM SOOO PLEASED WITH MY NEW PENNY RUG

I am soooo pleased with my new penny rug which I just finished stitching up! And I have to say again that I LOVE Brenda Gervais' patterns at Country Stitches. Even though this is an older pattern, as soon as I saw it on the website, I was in love! (It was a little Christmas treat for myself :-) -Do you ever give yourself little treats like that? P-)
And I'm not disappointed - what do you think of it?

Isn't the Santa gorgeous? I love the reindeers and little snowflakes!

It's about 34" in length and by just stitching a little every now and then when I got the chance it didn't seem to hard to blanket stitch 31 'tongues'.

Isn't this a great detail on the 3 tongues?!!

I also got a couple of other x stitch patterns finished but with sick girls at home this week I haven't yet fixed up some other Christmas arrangements done. Thankfully they are on the mend and we hope it all goes and we can enjoy Christmas.

This is such a pretty freebie pattern from Threadwork Primitives byNan and looks just right in the greens.
We're watching snow falling here tonight and it might keep us indoors tomorrow. I hope it doesn't stay too long because we have some family get togethers planned for the weekend.

Well, I hope everyone is warm and cozy and not stressing out over all the season's rush!
Enjoy it and remember to thank God for His unspeakable gift!

Thanks so much for your visit - I love the company!

  2. I LOVE how your penny rug turned out! Can't believe out of all the tons of patterns I have, I don't have that one, but now it'll be on my list. How cute!

I have that freebie printed off but haven't stitched it yet. I have soooooooo many I want to do yet! LOL

We got about 5 or 6 inches of snow overnite/today and are loving it. We are all excited about an extra long Christmas break. Hope yours is very special and hope your girls are feeling better soon!

  4. Oh Christine! Your penny rug is adorable!! You did a fantastic job stitching it.

We're just recovering from a winter storm. Trystan missed two days of school because of it. If the snow will just stick around so we can have a white Christmas it will be worth it.

Merry Christmas to you and your family!

  9. Oh Christine I love the penny rug, another one of those things I want to make....someday.8-)
You did a wonderful job!! Everything in your home looks so nice, still love that little dress.
Hope your girls are well soon!! I have four of my grandkids for a sleepover, mommy and daddy are at a Christmas party. They are both teachers. I am in the room where they are "supposed" to be sleeping. Tomorrow is a half day, the last before the holiday break so if they are a little tired that is okay.
    Take care.
    Hugs,
    Lorna

  19. Lovely Christine! It is just beautiful, you did a mighty fine job on all the stitching... especially all the tedious tongues! I love the little detail that you added with the Ho Ho Ho. The reindeer's little antlers are so cute.

Glad your girls are on the mend. Not a good time to have sick ones at home. I hope you and your family have a most joyous time celebrating our Savior's birth!

  21. Every time I see a wool project on a blog, I tell myself I need to get into sewing with wool. This runner is absolutely the cutest; that Brenda can design such cute things.

And I have this 'merry Christmas' cross stitch project on my to-do list. There just isn't enough time to do everything!

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas filled with comfort and joy. Looking forward to reading more from you in 2011!
